School's Out!

We did it! Nursing school is done. ...for now! Two years of hard work, many tears, lots of laughs, and  new friends were made. The last two years have been the most challenging yet rewarding years of my life. It has been extremely difficult being away from family and going from not knowing anyone or not knowing the area to getting to know so many new people and moving here to start my career. As I sit here, in Starbucks (of course), thinking about this weekend and about the last two years of my life. So much has changed. Some things I, at the time, wish had never happened, and other things waited a long time to happen. Everything happens for a reason and I am beyond grateful and blessed for everything that has happened and all of the opportunities that I have had the pleasure of experiencing.

This Saturday, I take my NCLEX. I have been waiting for this day for years and now, in less than 3 days, it will be here. I will be sitting in front of a computer screen, taking the test that determines my future. Through hours of studying, I'm ready. I'm ready to take on the world of being a nurse. Not just any nurse, but a registered nurse! I have officially signed my contract and accepted my position on the Neuro/Trauma step-down unit and begin working just 2 days after taking my test. I couldn't have asked for a better nursing program to go through and for all of the people I have met throughout the program, I am beyond thankful.

To those who don't know, I have moved to Daytona. As mentioned above, I begin working as a nurse here in 5 short days. I will be here for at least the nest 2 years, but only God knows what will happen following those 2 years. Although, I don't have my family here, I have many great friends, along with my boyfriend and his family and am just a little over an hour away from visiting my 321 crew. I have finished my first portion of nursing school but have applied to being the next portion. I will be going back to school to further my education and eventually get my DNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice) as a nurse practitioner.

Enjoy some pictures from the program!
